Da erschaudern die Fans der seinerzeit (1977) so großen Fusion-Szene: Die Gitarrensaiten zupft neben dem Meister Lee Ritenour, den Baß Anthony Jackson, die Drums bearbeiten Steve Gadd oder Harvey Mason. Für heutige Ohren plätschert dieser HiFi-Klassiker mal funky, mal latin so dahin, geglättet von einer überflüssigen Streicher-Gebläse-Auflage. Verglichen mit der schwarzen MFSL-Scheibe bietet der Goldling auf 36'48" die etwas prägnanteren Höhen, die Analogplatte die schönere Raumillusion und das rundere Klangbild.

Acoustic guitarist Earl Klugh has always had an appealing sound, but so many of his recordings are sleepy affairs that do not raise themselves above the level of background music. This early session definitely falls into that category, and its reissue as a Blue Note CD reminds one of the swift decline of that label in the 1970s. The melodic music that Klugh creates is quite pleasant but little more than that, and the accompaniment by fellow guitarist Lee Ritenour, an anonymous-sounding rhythm section, and occasional horns and strings gives listeners no real reason to wake up.
