Als die kanadischen Heavy-Rocker 1974 ihr drittes Album Not Fragile vorlegten, wurde ihnen nicht nur der Ruf der lautesten Band der Welt zuteil, sondern sie avancierten zu den absoluten Top-Acts im internationalen Musikbusiness. Natürlich trugen die zwei Megahits des Albums, "Roll On Down The Highway" und "You Ain`t Seen Nothing Yet", einen Großteil dazu bei.
Der berühmte Stottergesang letzteren Titels war ursprünglich nicht für die Öffentlichkeit bestimmt und wurde im Studio nur als "Arbeits-spur" gebraucht. Als Randy Bachman die berühmten Worte "B-B-B-B-B-Baby You Just Ain`t Seen N-N-Nothing Yet" sang, war dies keineswegs eine Hommage an "My Generation" von The Who, sondern ein kleiner Scherz über seinen stotternden jüngeren Bruder und wurde auf Drängen des Plattenfirmenverantwortlichen beibehalten, was dem Song letztlich seinen ganz besonderen Charme gab. Schon der Title-Track "Not Fragile" hält, was er verspricht: nicht zerbrechlich. Fred Turners staubtrockenes Bassriff wird gefolgt von Randy Bachmans und Blair Thorntons megaheavy-groovy Gitarren sowie schließlich Turners Stimme, die an Power und Ausdruckskraft seinesgleichen sucht. BTO-Songs bestechen durch einen perfekten Spannungsaufbau, wie "Rock Is My Life, And This Is My Song" unter Beweis stellt: sanfter Beginn, Steigerung zu gewaltigen Riffs, sanfter Refrain und dazu passende Lyrics, die das Auf und Ab im Leben des Rockmusikers (Randy Bachman) beschreiben.

Das Album zeigt keine Schwächen und ist nicht zuletzt der Hits wegen das populärste Werk der Kanadier. BTO gaben dem Heavy-Rock eine völlig neue Dimension. Melodiöse Soli (beide Gitarristen beanspruchen dabei je eine Box der Stereoanlage) gepaart mit immensem Druck von Bass, Drums und Gitarren verschmolzen zu einem bisher noch nie dagewesenem Sound. --Thomas Eckert

B-B-B-Baby - You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet tönte es im Jahr 1974 aus den Radios, als das dritte Album von Bachman-Turner Overdrive in den USA die Nummer Eins der Charts wurde. Mit einem leichten stilistischen Wandel zu mehr Metal und mehr Riffs gelang es, den Sound des Arena-Rock auch an die breite Masse der Musikhörer zu transportieren. Es gilt also die Luftgitarre auszupacken, das Haarband zu lösen und den Lautstärkeregler mit diabolischem Grinsen in Richtung des rechten Anschlags zu bewegen.

Das Audio Fidelity Re-Issue wurde von Kevin Gray bei Cohearant Audio neu digitalisiert und erscheint als 24-Karat-Gold-CD mit zusätzlicher HDCD-Codierung. Das Booklet verwendet eine Spotlackierung, um die Metallteile auf der Holzkiste des Covers noch einmal richtig glänzen zu lassen. Limited Edition mit fortlaufender Seriennummer.

1974's, Not Fragile is the third album by Bachman–Turner Overdrive. The album marked a slight change in direction as the band's already heavy sound turned more directly toward metal. Thunderous bass and drums, strong vocals and howling dual-guitar solos by Randy Bachman and Blair Thornton are prominently featured on many of the tracks.

From the opening chords of Not Fragile to the jazz stylings of "Rock Is My Life" to the pounding C.F.Turner hit track "Roll On Down The Highway" this album is packed with gems including Randy Bachman's famous stuttering-vocals on the #1 hit  "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet." The riffs on this album are heavy and plentiful, bristling with raw, chomping guitar power. Other cuts had significant airplay on FM rock radio and most of the material on Not Fragile are the band's classic rock anthems.

Not Fragile reached #1 on the US Pop Album charts and is one of the finest arena rock albums of the era.

After gaining some recognition from the success of the band's previous album, Bachman-Turner Overdrive got around to recording Not Fragile. Not only had one of the three Bachman brothers (Tim, the rhythm guitarist) left the band to BTO's advantage, but Randy Bachman and C.F. Turner had clearly grown musically. To the album's benefit, most of the material on Not Fragile are the band's much-liked rock anthems, ranging from the hyper-distorted title track, through the famous but far more timid song "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet." Indeed, for hard rock fanatics, it doesn't come much better than on Not Fragile. Randy's electrifying lead guitar is here more raucous than ever before, as are his rowdy vocals (particularly noticeable on the predictable, but fun "Sledgehammer"). The man steals the show on Not Fragile through his extensive and often astounding guitar solos. Generally, though, Bachman-Turner Overdrive are at their prime as a whole, both in songwriting and playing terms. As regards the mixing, it's hard to find fault with this release. The drums are clear but not so prominent that they dominate the recording, while the guitars, along with the bass, are kept rigidly in their place. Not Fragile is one of the finest arena rock albums of the era, featuring all the hallmarks of what makes a classic release in the genre. Randy's impressive guitar work and typically boisterous vocals complement the overall framework of the album superbly, as do the crunchy rhythm guitars. This release will astound fans of the genre and band, while those thoroughly against stadium rock may find something to convert their views.
